A resident of Sunderland, David
was originally from
Long Eaton, Derbyshire. David moved to Sunderland in order to study for his career
in pharmacy. He worked as a Lecturer in Pharmacy at Sunderland Polytechnic, and after
retiring continues working as a locum pharmacist throughout Co. Durham.
David's musical career started as Assistant
Organist at Central Methodist Church, Long Eaton, at age 19 years. After leaving Long
Eaton to study, David was organist at a number of churches in Sunderland including Clockwell Street Methodist Church, St. Andrews Methodist Church, Fulwell Methodist
Church and since 1990 was the organist for West Park United Reformed Church,
until its closure in 2014. Since the closure, David deputises at a
number of churches in the Sunderland area.
In 1991, David
took up playing the Euphonium and became a playing member of the
orchestra from its formation, until 2005.
Chairman of the orchestra until 2005. Following a break of several years
he was re-appointed Chairman in April 2010.
