Judith Thompson


Originally from Norfolk, Judith studied violin in Brighton with the inspirational teacher Andrew Sherwood, and has since played with many orchestras.

Following a move to the North-East, Judith joined the orchestra in 2003.

She has been involved in a wide variety of music education projects and currently teaches upper strings for Gateshead Schools' Music Service.

Judith enjoys playing with the Londonderry String Quartet and often arranges music for this ensemble. She also plays jazz violin and currently performs with a quintet.

Judith took over as leader in September 2012.
