Next concert

Saturday 14th October 2017 in West Park Church

Our Musical Director, Paul Judson, has undergone surgery on his right knee,

and will experience mobility problems for some time. Our best wishes go to Paul.

Consequently, a friend of the orchestra, David Milner, will conduct the next concert.

David has played with us as a guest on several occasions (French Horn).

We are very grateful to him for standing in at the rehearsals and at the concert.

Summer Streets Festival


Eleven members of the orchestra’s string section gave a half hour performance in

Thompson Park, Southwick, Sunderland on Saturday 15th July from 2.00pm - 2.30pm.

This was part of the Summer Streets Festival organised by The Cultural Spring.



Shipcote Art Gallery at Gateshead.


Twelve members of the String section of the orchestra played at the Gallery on Saturday 2nd September.

Two half hour performances were presented during the afternoon’s Summer Tea.


Logos for publicity

Two logos have been designed for use on publicity material for the orchestra.

Representatives from the Arts Council, Dr. Kitty Porteous and Amelia Henderson,

were present at the December 2016 and the March 2017 performances.

 We thank them for their interest and support.




Congratulations to one of our younger members, Rachel Chadwick,

on passing the Grade 7 violin examination of the Associated Board.



Closure of West Park Church


Although an offer to purchase has been accepted by Synod, there has been no further movement.





Anonymous donations of £2000.00 and of £1100.00 have been received.
